Yoon will travel to the UK, USA and Canada next week

SEOUL, Sept. 12 (Yonhap) — President Yoon Suk-yeol will depart for the United Kingdom next week to attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, a trip that will also take him to New York for the assembly General of the United Nations (UN) and Canada for a bilateral summit, the presidential office said on Monday.

Yoon will attend the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II on September 19 in Westminster Abbey, London, the office said earlier. Yoon has previously expressed her condolences over the death of the queen, who passed away last Thursday at the age of 96, after 70 years of reign.

Yoon will then travel to New York to attend the UN General Assembly. He will deliver a keynote speech there on September 20 in which he is expected to reiterate his call for the denuclearization of North Korea, according to his office. The president may hold bilateral summits with the United States and Japan on the sidelines, officials say.
