When it comes to diet, you sometimes get lost. Starchy foods are often singled out. Can we eat it in the evening or not? We explain to you.
Starchy foods are generally foods to avoid when dieting. At least that’s what a lot of people think. Some received ideas are still alive. It must be said that there is something to get lost in sometimes. We hear everything and its opposite. There are even certain fads in diets. Of course, knowledge is also evolving in terms of physiology. They help to implement healthier approaches for the body. It is also necessary to always be accompanied by a professional if you want to start a diet. There is indeed no common miracle solution, but different approaches adapted to your body and your needs. The elimination of starches at dinner time is not, for example, an essential, quite the contrary. Again, it’s all about balance. Excess is never beneficial, one way or the other.
Starches are more varied than you might think!
Starches are important for our body. They participate in particular in the feeling of satiety which is essential. If you’re going to lose weight, it doesn’t have to be an obstacle course. Indeed, according to a study, if your diet does not meet your needs, it will be very difficult to hold on. From then on, you will quickly be tempted to crack if you are still hungry. We often think of pasta when we talk about starches. There are, however, many others. Potatoes, generally decried in case of diet, are however quite recommendable. They can be eaten even in the evening. They do contain tryptophan. This compound helps release serotonin, the so-called “happiness” hormone. These starchy foods therefore help to create a state of serenity that is much more conducive to sleep! Parsnips, but also lentils or chickpeas are also interesting.
Starchy foods can thus be consumed in the evening in reasonable quantities. What matters above all is also their preparation. If you accompany them with fatty and very rich sauces, this is what will harm your digestion, your sleep and your diet! It is therefore important to favor simple cooking, with water or steam. In general, our activity is less in the evening. It is therefore not necessary to eat too large portions. If you’re planning on partying, however, it’s wise to eat a little more to, again, avoid binging on snacks, etc. in the evening. It is also important that your body can follow a regular rhythm in terms of food. Do not hesitate to eat starchy foods in the evening. To vary the pleasures and tastes, consider using spices.
