WASHINGTON, Aug 23 (Reuters) – Former U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday asked a federal court to temporarily restrain the FBI from analyzing documents seized from his Florida home two weeks ago until the appointment of an expert to supervise the procedure.

In a motion filed in federal court in West Palm Beach, Florida, the former White House tenant also asked the US Department of Justice to provide him with more detailed information about the documents seized by investigators. of the FBI at Mar-a-Lago on August 8.

He also requested that any document or object not falling within the scope of the search warrant be returned to him.

The motion, which stresses that policing cannot be used “as a weapon for political gain”, landed on the desk of Donald Trump-appointed District Judge Aileen Cannon.

The Mar-a-Lago search earlier this month marked an escalation in one of several federal and local investigations targeting Donald Trump for his actions during his presidential term and for his businesses.
