United States: an amusement park dedicated to construction machinery will open its doors in Tennessee

Since August, a strange amusement park has been under construction in Sevierville, Tennessee, a town nestled in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, in the United States. Forget the princess castles and the heroes of cartoons and other comic strips, here the stars will be bulldozers, diggers or steamrollers.

An amusement park entirely devoted to construction machinery

“Dig’N’Zone” (“dig” means “to dig” in French) will open its doors next spring, with 25 attractions to discover, spread over 10 hectares. Children and parents can, for example, drive a bulldozer or an excavator, or slide from a dump truck, like the goods dropped, reports franceinfo.

An amusement park sponsored by an industrial group

All the equipment for this new kind of amusement park will be supplied by Caterpillar, “the world’s leading manufacturer of construction equipment”. The American industrial group has already planned to organize demonstrations or presentations of its equipment on site, and to organize events for its employees.

It was a native of Tennessee, Weston O’Dell, who had the idea for this park when he saw his daughters maneuvering a construction machine successfully, according to the site The Smokies. He managed to raise $25 million from investors to build this park. According to the founders, the installation of this park should create nearly 100 jobs in the region.

Other amusement parks around construction machinery in the world

While waiting for the opening of the park, Americans can discover two other parks with similar attractions: in Minnesota is indeed “Extreme Sanbox”, or “extreme sandbox” in French, reserved for adults for safety.

Near New York, New Jersey, is also the “Diggerland” park, opened in 2014. Four other “Diggerland” parks can be visited closer to home, in the United Kingdom, notably in Kent and Yorkshire. The principle is the same as at Dig’N’Zone, children and adults can drive real construction machinery.
