United States: actor Kevin Spacey found not guilty of sexual assault

(Reuters) – Kevin Spacey was found not guilty in a New York court on Thursday on sexual assault charges brought against him by a man who said he was victimized by the American actor when he was 14.

After three weeks of trial in federal court in Manhattan, the jurors considered that Anthony Rapp, now 50, had not provided proof of his charges.

Kevin Spacey won Oscars for his roles in ‘American Beauty’ and ‘Usual Suspects’ but his career all but ended in 2017 following accusations of sexual harassment or assault from more than 20 men in the wake of the #MeToo movement to free the voices of victims of such acts.

From these first accusations, Netflix thus removed him from its hit series “House of Cards” and he was replaced in the film “All the money in the world” just a few weeks before its release at the end of 2017.

Kevin Spacey has consistently denied the charges against him.

He is due to appear in another trial next year in London.
