The day Manu Ginobili’s Argentina made Team USA bite the dust

After the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney won in pain, with in particular a big alert against Lithuania and a final against the blues far from having been largely dominated, Team USA took a huge slap in the world championship at home with a small 6th place. For the Athens Olympics the Americans had every intention of washing away this affront and for that they had brought in a more attractive team on paper with Tim Duncan, Allen Iverson, Stephon Marbury and the younger generation LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony. These Olympics finally quickly turned into a nightmare with the biggest defeat in the history of Team USA at the Olympics, beaten by 19 points by Puerto Rico. A first defeat which was to announce others (against Lithuania in the group), including the one especially in the semi-finals. After beating Spain in the quarterfinals, Team USA faced Argentina in Manu Ginobili, reigning vice-world champion. On August 27, 2004, the Argentines dominated almost from start to finish the proud Americans, incapable in particular of slowing down a Manu Ginobili regal with 29 points. Throwback to this last defeat of Team USA in a cleaver match:
