It is better to know this before arriving at the village of the Route du Rhum 2022 in Saint-Malo: dogs are no longer allowed since Friday, October 28, 2022.

A prohibition which applies to both large doggies and smaller ones, even those carried in a bag or in the arms. Assistance dogs, on the other hand, are still accepted in the village.

“Because of the crowd”

This decision, made during the week, was taken “because of the crowds”, in order to ensure the safety of the animals and the public.

A understandable precaution but which does not only make people happy, such as Chantal and Jean-Pierre, who contacted our editorial staff after being prevented “from accessing the site with our little dog even though this is in no way specified on the website”.

“We visited the village for the previous three days without any problem and we extended our rental by three days”, explains the couple, who do not digest this “sudden” decision.

They were already banned in 2018

You should know, however, that in 2018, the village was already forbidden to dogs as soon as it opened. Four years later, he was therefore tempted to accept them, but the first few days confirmed that dogs – and their leashes – on the docks could be a problem.

In view of an even larger crowd over the weekend, the organizing committee, which brings together the various partners of the event, has therefore chosen to be cautious.
