Me Sophie Grolleau, who had been assisting the alleged murderer since the start of his police custody, on the night of Friday to Saturday, relinquished the case. Romain Chevrel is now defended by Me Alexandre Martin of the Toulouse Bar.
This Sunday, November 20, at the beginning of the afternoon, the alleged murderer of Vanesa, this 14-year-old teenager, was still assisted by Me Sophie Grolleau from the Agen bar.
The Agen lawyer withdrew from this file at the end of the afternoon. Very quickly, Me Alexandre Martin of the Toulouse bar was entrusted with the defense of Romain Chevrel, indicted for the charges of kidnapping, forcible confinement, rape and intentional homicide.
Arrived urgently from Toulouse, this lawyer – who is also that of Cédric Jubillar – was able to meet his client at the Agen courthouse.
When night had already fallen on Agen and the 30-year-old father of two was imprisoned, the Toulouse lawyer delivered a first reaction “while remaining on the surface of things”. “You have to leave time for meditation and I have just arrived in the file”, he comments, “I remind you that I did not attend police custody”.
“He can’t explain it”
The Toulouse lawyer explains “that the facts are recognized. “The work now lies in knowing what happened in his head”, he continues “he is overwhelmed by the seriousness of the facts he has committed. He can’t explain it.”
Me Alexandre Martin – who has returned to Toulouse – must see his client “very quickly” again. The next step is also the one that psychiatrists and psychologists will perform “during expertise”.
