He holds the title of most expensive cat in the world due to its particular physical characteristicss. In fact, you won’t find it anywhere, as it is the result of laboratory work done in the United States in the early 2000s.
They are called Ashera cats, a very rare specimen that can only be bred within the parameters of the laboratory that created itbecause it was genetically modified when it was created so as not to have any descendants.
Here are their characteristics and the price of cats of the Ashera breed:
One of their main characteristics is that these cats are a hybrid of African cheetahsof Asian leopards and common catsthe result of genetic manipulations carried out by the American Lifestyle Pet Laboratory.
With a very short coat, the Ashera cat is very large and can measure up to one and a half meters and weigh up to 15 kilos. However, its life expectancy is not very long: it can live between 8 and 10 years.
In terms of appearance, the Ashera cat has a thick tail, large ears (often slightly rounded), green or honey-colored eyes. This cat is not at all aggressive. They are also highly intelligent, inquisitive, and calm, and manage to form strong bonds with their family members.
These cats are sterile and cannot reproduce, so they can only be purchased from the lab that bred them (the breed has insurance and recommendations for care and behavior).
How much does it cost ? The most surprising is indeed the price. In effect, it ranges from $17,000 to $96,000, depending on the type of cat. Also, there are so far four Ashera cats :
Here are the 4 breeds:
-Common Ashera : the most common is cream-colored with spots similar to those of a leopard.
– Hypoallergenic : as above, but its coat does not cause an allergy.
– Snowy : totally white, with some amber spots.
–Royal : it is the most exclusive and it is usually cream colored with black and orange spots or stripes.
