We run everywhere but it’s going pretty well. “Vincent Vignacourt, the manager of the Polish restaurant Comme chez Babcia has a smile on his face this Saturday. The emblematic establishment has just moved to the commercial area of Cora Courrières after six years in the city center of Lens. And it is a success! The restaurant is full all weekend: We serve 600 over three services, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. »

With its 800 m2 of surface area, compared to 300 m2 in Lens, Comme chez Babcia manages to keep its family identity. The number of covers, 170 per service, increases slightly (130 before) but the spaced tables allow groups to benefit from a certain intimacy. All in the middle with a folkloric decoration, which is already attracting the first customers. ” People are amazed by the ceiling while the centerpiece, a 1.30 m eagle will only arrive in ten days “, rejoices Vincent Vignacourt.

The restaurant retains its identity with a folk decoration to which will soon be added a 1.30 m eagle hanging from the ceiling.

The menu obviously does not change and we will always find there Polish dishes of yesteryearso dear to the people of the region.

Tea room and grocery store

Where the novelty is settling in is to the left of the entrance where a grocery corner will delight gourmets. In particular, we find a stall selling Polish meats and pastriesnot to mention souvenirs and other handicrafts. A tea room also completes the offer for those who would like to enjoy a milder day. ” With the extended hours, we therefore hired staff, going from 11 to 18 employees “says the manager.

A shop and a tea room complete the offer, in the same room as the restaurant.

Enough to satisfy customers eager to find the restaurant and reduce reservation times. The day after the opening, however, there is already a wait of about a week for the weekend. The ransom of success.
