Noël was born in La Trinité, but had lived in Bendejun for thirty years. The Paillon takes him first to the cellar Ricord, at the gates of Old Nice, where, from the age of 14, he shaped socca plates. Chickpea flour is not its only favorite ingredient. Garlic, olive oil, vegetables bursting with the nissart sun… make it climb other levels. He thus opens the famous Right bank in 1983. An essential address, where many customers follow one another to savor ravioli with porcini mushrooms, stew, zucchini flower fritters… He also set up another business in Lomé, Togo, in the 1990s. In 1995, he received the first prize for Nice cuisine with Hélène Barrale, another guarantor of local cuisine. In 2009, he overflowed onto the seafront and launched Bellandaat Les Ponchettes, in place of the current Di Piu. Without ever separating from Right bankwhich he kept until 2015. His only son Guillaume, joined him, took over the business for some time before pursuing a career as a sports coach.
For three years, the date on which Noël decided to retire, the Right bank does not exist anymore. Replaced by another sign, but unforgettable in the palates of gourmands. Blending in with the Christmas personality, the cordon-bleu azure.
The funeral of Noël Icart will take place tomorrow with, at 2 p.m., lifting of the body at the funeral home of Saint-André-de-la-Roche, then, at 2:30 p.m., religious ceremony celebrated in the church of the Trinity.
