Catalina Crossing Race: Shell va’a wins in the United States

After the Catalina Race was canceled due to a hurricane, the canoes clashed near the coast during the Catalina Channel Crossing. Shell va’a wins the race…

The Catalina Channel Crossing Race took place on September 11, 2022 in Newport, California. The Tahitian team from Shell va’a, which took part, won the coastal race. The Polynesians were originally scheduled to participate in the Catalina Race, canceled due to the formation of Hurricane Kay.

The route has been revised: the canoes have evolved near the coast and in Newport Bay, for the sake of safety.

Shell va’a comes first, yet another victory for the team but the first in this competition, previously won by Paddling connection and the Air Tahiti club.
