Aggressive Army Belgian Shepherd Malinois Literally Changes His Demeanor When He Meets His Beloved Handler

Walensten Anak Robert Apun is a dog handler who has no less than 18 years of experience in the profession within the Malaysian army.

In 2019, his manager informed him that he had been appointed to take charge Lokithe 8-month-old Belgian Malinois that everyone was afraid of.

Indeed, the doggie was reactive towards humans and therefore did not allow itself to be approached or trained.

“I remember having a hesitation when I saw him for the first time. We looked at each other and I slowly walked towards him. But for some reason he didn’t jump on me.”has explained Walensten at FMT.

The 37-year-old then got to know his new sidekick better through play.

“That’s when he started wagging his tail and I felt better”he confided.

Since then, the duo has worked together, but also consolidated their complicity.

A unique friendship

The master and his dog began their explosives search training very quickly.

“We first put loads inside a vehicle, for example. Then we’ll bring Loki who was supposed to sit down when he detected the powder”has explained Walensten.

Since then, the duo have been practicing their skills on high-risk missions.

During their free time, Walensten and Loki enjoy long walks around the baseUlu Tiram to DOhor Bahru (Malaysia), play catch or swim together at the beach.

Whether Loki is transformed in the company of its owner, it is not the same with visitors.

“He won’t allow anyone else to touch him. If someone tries to hold their leash, they will bite them. In addition, he does not tolerate anyone approaching me.clarified Walensten.

However, this beautiful friendship could soon come to an end. In effect, Walensten plans to leave the army soon to devote more time to his family.

Unfortunately, the Malaysian government does not allow him to leave with his faithful 4-legged friend.

He therefore looked for a new dog handler to replace him, in vain. The community affected by their story is now campaigning for an exception to be made.
