A cat disappears in the wild for 2 months and leaves its humans waiting for a miracle

Disappeared while accompanying his family on a campsite, a cat wandered alone in nature for about fifty days. Coming from afar, its owners received the help of 2 residents who scoured the area in search of the feline.

Gustopher the cat returned home safe and sound, almost 2 months after disappearing into the middle of the wilderness, reported Rocky Mountain Outlook Today.

6 years old, Gustopher was adopted by Jody Hudey and his son Dolphis Seguin when he was 2 and a half years old. He was then living in a shelter located not far from their home in Winnipegin Manitoba (Canada), after being rescued as a stray cat.

On August 31, he accompanied his humans camping on the Spray Lakes Weston the edge of the dam lake Spray Lakes Reservoir. It was during that night that he disappeared. Jody and Delphis hadn’t noticed until they woke up the next morning. However, the feline had its harness, was attached by its leash and slept in their sleeping bag. He had managed to free himself to venture outside, before getting lost.

The duo stayed 4 more days there to look for him, but Gustopher remained untraceable. 2 local inhabitants, Lisa Young and Diane Borland Venneroffered to help as soon as they learned what had happened.

Cameras and a trap cage installed

They installed cameras in the area, after obtaining the green light from the authorities, then spent entire days and nights scrutinizing their screens. On Tuesday, October 18, Lisa Young spotted movement on his monitor. It was indeed a cat. However, she could not yet confirm that it was Gustopher.

Diane Borland Venner and her husband immediately placed a trap cage at the location indicated. Finally, on Friday, October 21, Gustopher got stuck there. His rescuers quickly went to retrieve him, then called Jody to tell him the news.

Moved and relieved, she redid the long journey of nearly 1,500 kilometers to find her cat and bring it home.
